Resilience is one’s ability to flourish in the midst of adversity. School personnel report seeing more and more effects of trauma in the students they work with. This workshop will provide an overview of the science behind ACEs and toxic stress, specifically the impact it has on brain development, learning and behaviors, as well as provide an applicable way to build resilience for all students. ACEs and trauma do not have to define a student’s learning experience. Resilience paired with the understanding of trauma can help create a safe environment for students to excel!

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact the Baker Teacher Leader Center, 319-335-5623, in advance.
