“Academic Freedom, No Catch.” It’s no wonder that free open source textbooks have only grown in number these past few years. The American Yawp is an example that’s widely used in introductory level American history courses. But must an open source website be so limited in scope? Introducing: OpenStax. This online source includes a wide array of textbooks across nearly every traditional school subject. Math, Science, Social Studies, Humanities, and even Business. This workshop will not only introduce you to the wonders of OpenStax, but allow participants to deliberate over its potential uses and shortcomings. Education technology gives us the tools we need; we should use them as best we can.
