Students in the Secondary Social Studies Education program graduate with a B.A. from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, as well as 5-12 social studies teacher certification through the college’s Teacher Education Program. Students in the Social Studies Education program choose two areas of focus, one that corresponds with their major and another in one of the following: history, political science, economics, geography, psychology, sociology, anthropology, or “all social studies.”

Students seeking licensure in social studies must have a major area and an additional emphasis. See your program guide for additional information.
