Language, Literacy, and Culture (LLC) brings together scholarly traditions and contemporary theory in literacy and cultural studies. Coursework provides both a broad background in relevant theoretical and research literature and opportunities to conduct original studies that explore the nature of literacy practices both in and out of school.

LLC doctoral students come from a range of national and international contexts and have professional experiences teaching in settings from early childhood through adulthood. LLC students share a commitment to exploring and investigating contemporary issues in literacy practices. LLC has a rich legacy of placing graduates in careers as tenure track professors, as well as curriculum leaders and administrators of literacy programs.
