The Foreign Language and ESL teacher education and graduate programs are designed to develop leaders in foreign language instruction, research, and education.

Foreign Language and ESL Education offers undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs. Many of the degree offerings are tailored to the individual and interdisciplinary in nature, with a strong emphasis on education and foreign language mastery. Students in the program choose a focus in a variety of languages.

New B.A. in Foreign Language Education

We have very good news for candidates in our Teacher Education Program!

The Board of Regents has approved a major in Foreign Language Education for the degree, bachelor of arts (B.A.). The program of study will be administered by the Department of Teaching and Learning, and the degree will be awarded by the College of Education. For undergraduate students pursuing a first bachelor’s degree, the major will require an approved College of Liberal Arts and Sciences major as a co-requisite.

Overview

The M.A.T. in Foreign and Second Language Education prepares candidates to be effective and engaging teachers in K-12 public and private settings.

The M.A.T. program in Foreign and Second Language Education is designed for superior liberal arts graduates who have had few or no professional education courses. Successful completion of the program leads to elementary and/or secondary teacher licensure. The program has focus areas in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Spanish, and Russian.

    Overview
