Comprehensive Exams

Students in the M.A. Program with Licensure or the M.A. Program without Licensure will be required to take comprehensive examinations at the end of their program of study.

The M.A. comprehensive examination consists of two parts: a general written examination in educational leadership covering material from all courses in the program, and a written examination that focuses on content from one of the courses in the program. Students have the opportunity to select the course over which they wish to write for the second part of the exam. Comprehensive examinations are take-home and students will have one week to complete and submit their work. Students must be registered during their comprehensive examination semester if they plan to graduate at the end of that semester.

All students will take the examinations during a week determined by the Office of Student Services. During their final semester of registration in the program students will be notified of deadlines for filing required forms for taking comprehensive exams and regarding graduation exercises.
