Happy “Where Do You Work?” Wednesday! This week meet alumnus Philip Lala (MA ’13 Educational Psychology).

Lala is a science teacher and science curriculum coordinator at City High School in Iowa City, Iowa. He has been with the Iowa City Community School District for nine years, and this is his eighth year at City High School. Lala will receive a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Iowa College of Education in May.

“I love that I get to build relationship with students from diverse backgrounds and get to see them grow throughout their high school careers,” says Lala. “In addition, I feel as though I have continued to grow as an educator because of the tremendous colleagues I have had the opportunity to work with.”

Lala is grateful for the support and preparation for his future that he received throughout his time at the University of Iowa.

“The College of Education has prepared me to be successful in the classroom and helped me continue to grow as a leader,” says Lala. “I’ve worked toward degrees in three different departments and in each one there have been professors and supervisors who have challenged me to become a better educator.”
